HYDRAULIC SHUTTLE VALVES
HYDRAULIC SHUTTLE VALVES
Parker’s sequence valves are used to control the sequence of operation of two or more hydraulic actuators. The sequence valve pressure is set higher than the first actuator operation pressure. Once the first actuator has completed its cycle, the sequence valve opens, allowing the second actuator to move. Parker’s line of pilot-operated sequence valves include a series of internally piloted, externally drained valves and a series of externally piloted, internally vented valves.

The valve consists of a steel ball that can seal against one of two adjacent seats, providing a path from the highest pressure signal to another function. When one inlet port is pressurized, the ball or poppet is forced against the opposite seat, blocking that inlet and providing a flow path to the outlet port.

Parker’s insert type shuttle valves can handle flows up to 38 lpm (10 gpm) and 420 bar (6000 psi) in a compact size that is meant to be countersunk inside manifolds in order to optimize manifold size and complexity. These are available as either a poppet or ball type, with the higher flow limitation on the poppet design, and higher pressure on the ball design. These reliable insert shuttle valves function similar to the cartridge style valves, but give the advantage of being able to mount without being seen or increasing manifold surface area.
