Technical info:
The directional control valve type D1SE is equipped with a wet pin armature solenoid, drain free tapered poppet. Due to the 3/2 way design, port A is either connected with P or discharged in the tank. The neutral position (solenoid not activated) is taken automatically by a return spring. This position remains until the solenoid is energized.
The valve poppet including activation lever and the armature of the solenoid are located in the pressurized oil chamber of connection T. The valve poppet is designed such that there can be no differential area in its axial operational direction (opening, closing). Thus it is statically pressure-balanced so that the valve can be switched in both flow directions even under pressure.

Additional Technical Insight:
N5 cartridge valves from Parker provide design flexibility for high pressure and high flow applications because they are actually 5-ported cartridges. Each version has 3 work ports, 1 Main pilot port, and one spring chamber vent that can sometimes be used as a second pilot / sense port. Each cartridge contains a spool that is offset by a spring to allow a non-piloted flow configuration. Once pilot pressure is applied to port 1, the spool shifts against the spring creating a second flow configuration. Multiple spool configurations, transition types, and switching pressures are available to cover a wide range of applications. N5A125 and N5A300 cartridge valves have an open transition which connects all 3 work ports together during the shifting of the spool. Both versions operate in the same manner with the key difference being flow rating. The N5A125 is rated for 42 GPM (160 LPM) and the N5A300 is rated for 105 GPM (400 LPM.) They can be used as normally-open, normally-closed and selector directional control valves and in a wide range of pressure and/or flow control circuits. The 5th port spring chamber can be vented to tank or used as a sensing port for applications that require high flow pressure or flow control. N5B125 and N5B300 have the same respective flow ratings and operate in the same manner as the respective N5A125 and N5A300. The key difference is that N5B cartridges have a closed condition transition. Please contact your Parker Application Engineer for assistance selecting the best transition condition for your application. N5C and N5D are similar in their operation to N5A and N5B cartridges but without the transition conditions and with either all work ports blocked or all work ports open. N5C125 and N5C300 cartridges have spools that are spring offset to a condition where all 3 work ports are open. Once pilot pressure is applied to port 1, all 3 work ports are blocked. N5D125 and N5D300 valves are spring offset to an all ports blocked condition. Once pilot pressure is applied, the spool shifts and all ports are connected together. Flow ratings for both size 125 styles is 42 GPM (160 LPM) and the size 300 styles are rated for 105 GPM (400 LPM.)

Additional Technical Insight:
Parker’s 2-way, pilot-operated series of directional control valves are available both normally-open and normally-closed, with flow and pressure ranging up to 100 lpm (26 gpm) and 420 bar (6,000 psi) respectively. These valves open or close the main flow path by utilizing pilot pressure from elsewhere within the hydraulic system and acting against the internal spring which keeps the valve in its “normal” position. A selection of valves in this series use 3 ports, with pilot pressure entering port 1 (nose) of the valve, and main flow passing through ports 2 and 3 on the sides of the valve. When a pilot signal is supplied to port one, pressure acts upon the spool and compresses the spring, opening/closing the flow path from port 2 to port 3 (depending if the valve is normally-closed or normally-open). Simply, the pilot pressure will shift the valve from its normal position. Because the spring chamber is vented internally through port 3, it is advised that port 3 is located on the lower pressure side of the valve and/or the tank line. When the pilot signal is removed, the spring acts upon the spool forcing the valve back into its normal position. Pilot pressures of 5 and 10 bar are available as standard options on this valve. This valve series also includes a selection of 2-way, 2 position, 4 ported valves. Similar to the 3 ported options, these valves receive the pilot signal at port 1, shifting the valve against the spring and opening/closing flow from port 2 to port 3, however the additional 4th port is connected to the spring chamber, thus allowing the oil to vent independently of the pressure seen at port 3. This additional 4th port feature adds flexibility for the hydraulic oil to flow either from port 2 to 3 or from port 3 to 2 with less effect on the pilot pressure and spring force interaction.
On the 3 ported valves, the 3rd port should be connected to the lower pressure flow path and/or ideally the tank line.

Additional Technical Insight:
Parker’s 3-way, pilot-operated series of directional control valves are available both normally-open and normally-closed, with flow and pressure ranging up to 90 lpm (24 gpm) and 420 bar (6,000 psi) respectively. Two versions of both the normally-open and normally-closed are available at varying flow and pressure ratings depending on the application needs. This series of valve acts as flow diverters and redirects the hydraulic fluid’s flow path from the valve’s neutral position to its shifted position by providing external pilot pressure to port 1 (nose) of the valve. The neutral or un-shifted position of the normally-open valves allow bidirectional flow from port 3 to port 2, with the 4th port blocked. When pilot pressure is provided to port 1, the spool shifts and then redirects the flow to between the 3rd and 4th port, blocking port 2. There is a selection of valves in this family that vent to atmosphere, allowing pressure equalization in the spring chamber. The remaining valves in this family vent the spring chamber internally through the 4th port, and as a result it is advised that port 4 is located on the lower pressure side of the valve and/or the tank line. Also, any additional pressure seen at port 4 is additive to the spring setting, which may impact the pilot pressure necessary to shift the valve. Pilot pressures of 2.8 bar (40 psi), 5.5 bar (80 psi), and 11 bar (160 psi) are available as standard options on the lower flow valves, and pilot pressures of 5 bar (73 psi) and 10 bar (145 psi) are available for the higher flow valves.
For all valves where the spring chamber is vented internally, the 4th port should be connected to the lower pressure flow path and/or ideally the tank line.

• Low pressure drop – resulting in low energy losses in operation
• Innovative A-regeneration – provides increased energy efficiency by reducing the oil requirement for partially-loaded differential cylinders
• Switchable hybrid version – can switch between regenerative mode (for high velocity) and standard mode (for high force)
• Short delivery time – no warehousing necessary
Applications:
• Suitable for general hydraulic applications
• General presses
Info regenerative and hybrid function:
In applications with differential cylinders it is common to feed the return flow from the rod side of the cylinder back to the piston side to achieve higher velocity or lower pump flow. Parker differentiates between regeneration to the pressure level of the pump (P-regeneration) or directly to the piston area respectively the A-port of the valve (A-regeneration). The Parker regenerative valves use the advantageous A-regeneration.
The hybrid version with an integrated solenoid valve can switch between regenerative mode and standard mode. The regenerative mode is used for maximum velocity, the standard mode for maximum force.
